Who We Are

Who is ACSA?

The Australian Custodial Services Association Limited (ACSA) is the peak industry body representing members of Australia’s custodial and investment administration sector.

The Association

ACSA is an industry association comprising of custody banks, asset servicing firms and allied professional organisations.

Through our executive team and working groups, we engage closely with government, regulators and other industry bodies on a pre-competitive basis to consult on new regulation, advocate positive change and to identify opportunities for improved systemic efficiency, automation and standard market practice.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote efficiency and international best practice for members, our clients and the market through a united voice for the custody and investment administration industry in Australia.

Our History

Following informal discussions in the early 1990’s, a charter was formed in 1994 and initial meetings held to frame an industry association. This initiative culminated in the incorporation of the Australian Custodial Services Association Limited on 9 February 1996. Foundation members included AMP Custodian Services, Hongkong Bank of Australia, National Australia Bank, Perpetual Trustees and ANZ Nominees.

Today ACSA has a number of partner members and associate members. Find out more about them here.

Then, as now, co-operation on a pre-competitive basis is essential to defining standards, common market practice, sharing know-how, interpreting regulation and enabling automation through the value chain to lower risk and improve systemic efficiency.

Over its history ACSA has remained true to mission and delivered positive change for the benefit of members, clients and the market overall.

The Association began collecting industry statistics as at December 1996. At this date the total of assets under custody was $286 billion with a split to international assets of approximately 15 percent. To find out more and view the latest industry stats, head to our statistics page.
