Operations

The Operations has a large member base and a diverse set of subject matter to consider. Given the size and breadth of member firms business, and the significance of the collective underlying customer base, the Group has material opportunity to discuss and influence policy, market infrastructure providers and industry and market practice.

The Group previously operated as separate Operations & Corporate Actions sub-groups however amalgamated in 2018 with the Custody Operations Working Group given a significant overlap in membership of the groups, and convergent focus on issues. The ASX CHESS Replacement program represents a very high profile market infrastructure change which is currently being viewed as a collective deliverable with material impact on the investment community.

The broader group meet on a quarterly basis as a means to obtain central updates from relevant internal and external stakeholders and also to agree and establish sub-groups to work on specific subject matter based on individual firm interest and participants specific skillset.

It is concerned with operations, market initiatives and technology changes that impact custodians and their clients.

Corporate actions automation and efficiency remains a strong focus of ACSA, and this work continues under the expanded charter of the Operations -  Working Group.

The working group works closely with relevant authorities and bodies, recommends practical approaches, suggests policy positions, and provides interpretation of issues and industry practice.

The group also responds to any relevant industry consultations on behalf of ACSA.

The Operations Working Group is responsible for:

  • Informing and updating members of ACSA's key priorities, emerging trends and themes
  • Supporting advocacy on key issues and opportunities for positive change
  • Increasing awareness of ACSA

How do we do this?

  • Delivering information to members and stakeholders
  • Publishing statistics on the industry
  • Organising and promoting member events
  • Developing and implementing media and promotions plans

“I reflect on my involvement with the ACSA community with pride as the collective engagement has allowed me personally to contribute to the positive shaping of the market today on a scale individuals or individual firms would not be able to achieve in isolation. On a personal level it has exposed me to subject matter, like-minded people and career opportunity that was otherwise unattainable and would highly recommend the experience."
